About the Case
Automotive Parts Class Action
Automotive Parts Litigation
The Automotive Parts Litigation includes four rounds of settlements arising from lawsuits against a number of auto parts makers who allegedly agreed to unlawfully raise the price of various vehicle component parts. As a result of the alleged agreements by these Defendants, consumers and businesses who purchased or leased qualifying new vehicles containing those parts may have paid more than they should have. These alleged acts violate U.S. Antitrust laws and are commonly referred to as price-fixing.
Because of the number of Defendants that were included in the lawsuits, the class action was divided into four separate rounds. Each round included a group of defendants that were allegedly involved in the price-fixing. Round 1 Settlements totaled approximately $225 million (August 9, 2016), Round 2 totaled approximately $379 million (July 10, 2017) and the Round 3 Settlements totaled approximately $433 million (November 7, 2018). The fourth and final round of defendants (Round 4 Settlements) reached proposed settlements totaling approximately $184 million (September 2019), bringing the total of all four rounds to approximately $1.2 billion.
