About the Case
Mitsubishi Airbag Control Unit Settlement
This class action lawsuit, titled In re: ZF-TRW Airbag Control Units Products Liability Litigation (Case No. 2:19-ml-02905-JAK-JPR), is a nationwide class action settlement involving certain Mitsubishi vehicles equipped with allegedly defective ZF-TRW airbag control units (ACUs).
The lawsuit alleges that these ACUs are susceptible to an electrical condition known as electrical overstress, which can cause the vehicle’s airbags and other safety systems not to deploy or malfunction during a collision. The defect, plaintiffs contend, creates a serious safety risk to occupants of the affected vehicles.
Mitsubishi denies any wrongdoing or liability but has agreed to an $8.5 million settlement to resolve the litigation.
